In celebration of launching the cutest bridal suite of jewellery with the wonderful Lauren and Jacque from LVR Bridal. We asked them all about their creative process and why they love what they do.

When did you know you were going to pursue fashion or dressmaking/designing?

Honestly, always. There was no Plan B for either of us - so lucky this worked out!

What made you decide to start your own brand and how did you start?

We started LVR to cater to the fashion-forward bride in New Zealand and bring designers who hadn’t been available here before. Our goal was to offer brides the chance to try on these exclusive designs locally, without the need to travel abroad.

After getting to know our brides and what they loved, we launched our Hand in Hand collection. We wanted to create separates that let brides build up or strip down their look based on their personal style. It was a return to our roots—doing what we love: being creative and designing.

What are your strongest childhood memories relating to design & fashion?

L: Mine would be wearing plastic heels and makeup from about the age of 5, Mum let me do my own eyeshadow & lipstick which was comical, and halfway up my face - she says she got strange looks but I'm so grateful, allowing me to have fun and be creative from a young age without any shame has been the biggest blessing.

J: I was Barbie obsessed! My grandmother's Greek friend would make me elaborate Barbie clothes including some VERY over the top bridal outfits. These were of course, my favourite pieces - I think this is when my love for clothing began.

What fabrics do you work with? Which one do you love the most?

Silk! We wish we could do everything in silk! it just can't be replicated by man, the drape, lustre, buttery texture - it's heaven.

Tell us a little about your process?

Our process is truly a team effort. We carefully design each piece, working with an incredible group of women to bring our samples to life. From social media to fit models, we do it all ourselves because we love being hands-on. Our process works thanks to our symbiotic relationship — we’re different enough to keep each other guessing and push the boundaries, but similar enough to trust one another completely. That balance is what makes everything flow.

How would you describe your work?

A true creative collaboration. We're still in disbelief that we're able to do this together. Our work is a mix of both of us, both just having fun and trying things out - it's the most open space that allows us to throw the wildest ideas out there freely.

Who or what inspires you?

Everything! Music, art, film, our friends, each other. Giving ourselves the time & space to be inspired is important for us. So if that means going to a midweek gig, or a weekend away - so be it!

Which piece are you most proud of?

The collaboration suit with Wynn Hamlyn was a real milestone for us. It's a huge deal for someone as prolific in the industry as Wynn to give us the opportunity to work together.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

We are so excited to launch this collection with Meadowlark -  it's been such a fun & rewarding collaboration. Can we just add you guys are the best, and we can't wait to all have matching diamond rings ..  thats a lifetime commitment right there.
